Cathy serves as the Director of Hughes Pittman & Gupton, LLP (“HPG”) Process Risk and Governance (“PRG”) Practice. She has over 25 years of experience including over 20 years of experience in public accounting and over five years of private industry experience. She was previously finance officer with Triangle Transit Authority. She started her career with Coopers & Lybrand in Columbia, South Carolina. She later moved to their Raleigh, North Carolina office where she served as an audit manager for four years. Cathy joined HPG in November 2004.

Cathy leads the firm’s PRG Practice which provides risk management services, including Service Organization Control (“SOC”) attestation, as well as other advisory services designed to evaluate the reliability and design of a company’s internal policies, processes, and procedures. Cathy also provides consulting on technical GAAP issues including initial GAAP conversions, revenue recognition, and business combinations.

Cathy has worked with clients ranging from startup companies financed by private venture capital to public companies. She is a key member of the HPG Technology practice serving primarily on software and software-as-a-service (SaaS) clients. Her experience includes SOC examinations and readiness consulting, financial reporting, business consulting, auditing and review services, as well as managing due diligence in mergers and acquisitions and the IPO process. Cathy’s consulting experience is focused on revenue recognition working with many startup technology companies on their initial GAAP implementation for financial reporting to investors and lenders or to prepare for due diligence. She also has experience in other industries including life sciences, CROs, and professional services.
